Maximum E-mail performance is achieved with Intrcomm Technology through the use of Linux Red Hat operating system, sendmail software and antivirus software. Each account requires a username and a 9 digit-alpha-numeric password for your security protection. We can generate a password for you or you may request one. Outlook Setup

The following details the procedure for setting up a new email account in Microsoft Outlook 2003 with Intrcomm Technologies' recommended configuration. This is accomplished through the account setup wizard.

  1. In Outlook 2003, click on the "tools" menu and select "E-mail Accounts..."

  2. Select "Add a new e-mail account" and click "next."

  3. You will be prompted to specify the type of mail server you use. Intrcomm Technology uses POP3 mail servers. Select POP3 and click "next."

  4. You will be prompted to provide your account information. Your "Incoming mail server (POP3) is mail.intrcomm.net, and your "Outgoing mail server (SMTP) should be your ISP's (Internet Service Provider) designated server. It is not recommended but you could utilize mail.intrcomm.net.

You can access more account settings by clicking the "More Settings..." button.

  5. Under the "General" tab, you can specify the name that appears on the previous menu's listing, as well as your organization name, and your reply email address.

  6. If you decide to use mail.intrcomm.net for your SMTP you will need to enable SMTP authentication. This can be done under the "Outgoing Server" tab.

  7. Under the "Connection" tab you can specify how Outlook 2003 will connect to the internet. The most flexible and generally applicable setting is "Connect using Internet Explorer's or a 3rd party dialer," in which case Outlook 2003 will simply use whatever connection is available.

  8. Under the "Advanced" tab, you can control the port settings for your account. The Incoming server (POP3) port number is 110. The Outgoing Server (SMTP) port number is 25.

You can also set Outlook 2003 to retain your messages on our server for a number of days even after you have retreived them. This is normally not necessary or even desirable, but in some circumstances (especially if you check your mail from multiple computers) this may be exactly what you will want to do.

  9. After reviewing all of your settings, click "ok" to return to the email settings window. Click "next." Outlook 2003 will display a window indicating that you have completed the account setup process. Click "finish" to exit the new-account wizard.
